Trump Calls Families of Injured Military Personnel to the Presidential Residence
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Community members came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to support policing efforts in the capital.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Government Adjustments
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident led the government to pause asylum applications and halt providing visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
