Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad following the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match after criticising the club and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the team's response remained positive. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
Jones also implied that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the period after the initial controversy. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games.”
