Massive Hype But a Major Gamble: Battlefield's Latest Targets Its Rival Series

Across the fiercely cutthroat arena of video games, it's common for fresh competitors to disappear as rapidly as they enter the scene.
But this new installment is striving to change that.
It's the newest release in a long-standing military shooter line commonly positioned as a more authentic answer to the CoD series.
The franchise has seldom been able to match its top competitor in terms of sales or gamers, but evidence points to the new installment could close the gap.
A preview weekend allowing users a opportunity to test the title not long ago broke records, and the buzz heading into its debut has been massive.
But the project is nevertheless a major gamble for publisher its creators, which has allegedly allocated vast amounts of money developing it.
Reporters have communicated to several the makers to find out how they hope it will be profitable.
Development Group and Developer Collaboration
A total of four teams have been creating the game under the Battlefield Studios banner.
This includes original series creator the Swedish studio, based in Europe, Los Angeles-based Motive developers and Ripple Effect Studios in Canada.
One more, the UK studio, is located in Guildford.

Learning From Past Errors
The game follows the heels of the futuristic Battlefield 2042, launched four years ago to a negative reception it struggled to recover from.
"We probably couldn't create and produce Battlefield 6 without the learnings we acquired in the previous title," she shares with our team.
One of those lessons was to get players involved from the start, and the team started invite-only fan playtests earlier this year.
This "response was extremely positive," states she.
Another missing ingredient from Battlefield 2042 was a solo experience, which has been brought back this time around.
The UK studio creative lead the design director is the one tasked with "guaranteeing those levels are as fun and compelling as possible for the audience."
Regardless of allegations that the scope of the title had challenged the various studios collaborating across continents to build the title, the director is optimistic about the endeavor.
"Collaborating with varied perspectives, distinct experiences, it's a very fascinating atmosphere to be part of every day," he shares.
"This entire approach has been an innovation but also very inspiring because we are partnering with team members from internationally."
Concerning the anticipation on the crew, Fas states: "We experience pressure but additionally it's thrilling.
"It's a major project. It's likely the largest that the majority of the team have ever participated in."
New Developer Adds New View
That's certainly accurate of at least one staff, lighting artist Vlad.
This young professional creates the visual ambiance that shape the mood, tone, and direction of the story mode.
He completed an internship at the developer before obtaining a position there, and currently operates part-time while completing his digital arts degree at the university.
Vlad states he's a long-standing supporter of the games, and recalls playing the fourth instalment of the series at a pal's home when he was a child.
To be on it at present, as his first industry job, "doesn't feel tangible."
"It's truly incredible observing the promotion all around," he comments.
"To know that I've put my individual work into the project is really unbelievable."
