History of Targeted Attacks
Since the start of the full-scale conflict in Ukraine, a series of Russian military officials have been targeted within Moscow.
This new event comes after other serious incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a device placed on a scooter was set off from a distance.
While a source from Ukraine previously linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely officially confirmed as a matter of official stance.
Hostilities has been marked by covert operations moving into the streets of the Russian capital.
The investigation into General Sarvarov's death is still active.
